This practice was born out of my journey in motherhood. My first pregnancy and birth were difficult to say the least. After birth, I struggled to breastfeed and had severe depression and anxiety. When I finally wanted help, I couldn’t find counselors that specialized in what I was going through. Because of my story, I knew I didn’t want anyone else to feel without support like I did. Since, I’ve suffered pregnancy loss, and have had two other live births. While the birth was redemptive, I still struggled with a perinatal mood disorder, but I was more equipped with what support looked like for me. I was able to be open about my mental health to be cared for and recover.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and supervisor in Texas, Washington DC, Vermont, Virginia, and Maryland. I have a Doctorate of Education from Johns Hopkins University, and a Masters in Counseling from Southern Methodist University. Over the years, I have supported people across the lifespan in many different settings such as schools, agencies, and now private practice. Our Liv family extends nationally to extend in person and online access to reproductive mental health care in the future. I'm a professor at George Washington University. I also am a children's author of books that help open up a conversation about difficult topics between parents and children.
I am a wife and a mother of my three kids ages 8, 4, and 2.
